Teachers & Advisors

Shaping Futures provide schools with high quality, impartial, information, advice, and guidance activities, to support students in making informed choices and fulfilling their potential. Alongside our outreach offer, we provide teacher CPD opportunities and support schools to understand their outreach needs, while working with local strategic partners to collaboratively deliver activity which meets local needs.

Our work contributes to a comprehensive, stable careers programme, with each activity designed with the Gatsby Benchmarks in mind.

What is Outreach?

Contextual Admissions

To support your work with students preparing Higher Education, Shaping Futures has collaborated with the five universities across the Liverpool City Region (LCR) to produce a unified guide to contextual admissions.

Contextual admissions adjust entry requirements to recognise a student’s educational or personal circumstances, ensuring that grades alone do not limit their academic potential. While each institution has its own specific framework, most partners in the region offer a typical reduction of 1 to 2 grades (or 8–16 UCAS points) for eligible applicants.

Key features of this new resource include:

Institutional Matrix: A clear breakdown of primary policy names, key eligibility criteria, and specific course exclusions for each university.

Postcode Tool: Direct guidance on using the Office for Students (OfS) Postcode Look-up Tool to check for POLAR or IMD Quintile 1 eligibility, as postcode status can change annually.

Key contact details: Direct contact details to all the relevant admissions teams.
