Liverpool John Moores University are offering two Media Career focused events in June 2021.

How to succeed in the Media and Creative Industries – Thursday 17th June 1pm – 3pm

This event is for Year 12 and 13 students at Sixth Form and College, or Media/Careers teachers. The webinar will be of interest to anyone wishing to study or pursue a career in the Media, including Journalism, Television, Online or Digital Media careers. Guest speakers include Ngunan Adamu, Producer and Presenter at BBC Radio Merseyside, Lois Frost, Freelance Personal Assistant and Assistant Director and Amanda Jane Dean, Communications and Engagement Manager, ITV in the North. Staff and students from LJMU’s Liverpool Screen School will also be speaking.

BBC ‘Real News’ Day in collaboration with LJMU Journalism – Thursday 24th June

LJMU Journalism is delighted to invite students and teachers to their second ‘Real News’ day in partnership with BBC Young Reporter. This online event will help young people to develop critical thinking and digital literacy, think about the news and its role in society and try our some journalistic techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in an interactive ‘Real News’ workshop with specialist BBC trainers, get involved in smaller breakout rooms focused on topics such as how to develop a podcast, have a virtual tour of LJMU’s newsrooms, TV Studio and radio production facilities and learn what it takes to have a career in media, quizzing journalists from the BBC.

Schools are welcome to attend for a full day (9.15am – 3pm) or morning session only (9.15am – 1pm) and bookings are limited to one group of Sixth Form students per school/college. You can find out more and book on here.
