DESCRIPTION:\nShaping Futures are pleased to offer an afternoon webinar focused on Disabled Student Allowance (DSA). The webinar is open to students, adult learners, parents/carers, teachers, careers advisers, SENCOs or anyone else who might be applying for DSA, or supporting a learner to apply for DSA.\nWhat is Disabled Students Allowance?\nDSA provides support to cover the study related costs a student might have because of a mental health problem, long term illness, specific learning disability or any other disability. Any funding or support received through DSA does not need to be paid back.\nWho can receive Disabled Students Allowance? \nStudents can apply for DSA if they have a disability that might affect their ability to study, such as a:\n\nSpecific learning difficulty, such as dyslexia or ADHD\nMental health condition, such as anxiety or depression\nPhysical disability, such as needing to use crutches or a wheelchair\nSensory disability, such as a visual or hearing impairment\nLong term health condition, such as chronic heart disease, chronic fatigue syndrome or cancer\n\nMany students may not typically consider themselves to have a disability, but may have a condition which entitles them to support under DSA.\nDuring the webinar we’ll cover what Disabled Students Allowance is, what kind of support is available through DSA, the application process and any common queries or misconceptions.
